Over 5,500
infants, children and teens are in protective
custody in the state of Nevada. They have survived indescribable
circumstances and experiences. New clothing is
an incredible gift to a child who has never had a
thing to call his own.
The Reno Rodeo Denim Drive
serves the following counties: Washoe, Douglas, Carson, Lyon, Storey,
Churchill, Humboldt and Pershing. What is
collected in each county stays in each county.
Donations of new jeans, socks and underwear are
collected at businesses throughout the state and
online. 100% of each cash donation is used to
purchase additional clothing.
Our
goal is to collect enough
clothing to provide at least one
pair of jeans, one package of socks
and one package of underwear to
every infant, child and teen in
protective custody and foster care.
Clothing collected during our annual
drive is distributed throughout the year
by the Washoe County Department of
Social Services and the State
Department of Child and Family
Services.
2009 Denim Procession

In
Washoe County, the 2009 Denim Drive
launched with the Denim
Procession on Saturday, November 21.
It was a beautiful day for the Reno Rodeo's vintage
chuck wagon to deliver collection
barrels to businesses in the
Reno/Sparks area. The 2009
Denim Procession was sponsored by the
Washoe County Sheriff's Office, KOLO
8 News Now, and K-BUL 98.1 and KOH
News Talk 780.
