Denim Procession
The Reno Rodeo Denim
Drive is an annual community event to collect new denim clothing and cotton
underwear and socks for abused and neglected infants, children and
teens who have been placed in protective custody and foster care.
The 2008 Reno Rodeo Denim Drive runs
November 24 - December 19,
culminating
with the "Denim Procession" on Saturday, December 20th.
Our
goal this year is to collect enough
clothing to provide at least one
"school day" outfit for every child
in protective custody and foster
care ~ that's a minimum of
1,200 pairs of jeans, 1,200 pairs of
socks and underwear and 1,200 tops.
Clothing collected during our annual
drive is provided to children and
teens throughout the year.
This is the ultimate gift that keeps
on giving!
When money gets tight
and day-to-day life becomes more
stressful, there is a significant
upswing in child abuse and neglect. This means the Reno
Rodeo Denim Drive needs your
contributions now more than ever. Thank you for
reaching out to the children in our
community who have faced
circumstances most of us cannot even
image.
How do I
Participate?
Collection Location Sponsorship
The Reno Rodeo
Foundation is currently seeking to partner with 50
local businesses who would like to serve as
collections points for the 2008 Denim Drive.
We know times are tough
this year, especially for small businesses, so we're
changing our collection location commitments this
year. In past years, we've collected a
promotion fee to help us cover the cost of
advertising on the radio and in the Reno
Gazette-Journal.
This year, we're giving
our Collection Locations business owners a choice.
You can either pay $100 toward advertising or you
can work with us to develop a "Piggy-Back"
advertising campaign where you would promote your
business and its connection with the Denim Drive,
using advertising and marketing you already have
in place.
We are
also encouraging all of our
collection locations to consider:
-
Offering incentives to your
customers if they make a
purchase at your business which
will support the Denim Drive.
(i.e. designate a portion of
your profits, offer a %-off if
they bring in a denim item or a
package of socks/underwear,
etc.)
-
Participate in a collection
challenge with other local
businesses.
-
Conducting an "internal drive"
with all of your employees.
